How we pick and track prices
Plain numbers, straight from our own logs.
The numbers right now
- 2,520 timestamped Amazon price readings logged since Oct 11, 2:22 PM ET (2.2 days).
- 755 products have at least one logged reading; 147 have 3 or more.
- 40 distinct hours with at least one check. Each hourly run reads a rotating sample (about 60 products) for up to ~7 minutes.
- Last run (Oct 13, 7:23 PM ET): read 0 of 2 attempted (0.0% success; Amazon sometimes blocks reads).
- 964 products have Amazon's “Customers say” summary captured; we show it only where we actually read it.
How products get on the site
Every product comes from Amazon Best Sellers or Movers & Shakers lists. We keep items rated 4.2★ or higher with more reviews than most items on that list, then rank by rating and review count. Ratings and review counts are Amazon's, as shown when we checked; we don't test products ourselves.
How we spot fake deals
A “list price” on Amazon can be set higher than what a product usually sells for, which makes a discount look bigger than it is. So we don't rely on it alone. Every hour we read prices on Amazon ourselves and keep every reading, then compare today's price to our own log.
A card gets the Real deal label only when all three are true: (1) we have logged at least 3 prices for it, (2) today's price is within 2% of the lowest price we've logged, and (3) Amazon shows it at least 10% below its own typical or list price. If Amazon shows 10%+ off but the price is 5% or more above our tracked low, the card says so instead (“Discount check”).
Our log is young (it started Oct 11, 2026), so most products don't have enough readings yet; those show no label until they do. Right now 77 tracked products qualify as Real deals and 11 get a Discount check.
How the “Buy / Wait / Skip” call works
Skip if Amazon shows under 4.0★ or fewer than 100 reviews. Too early if we have fewer than 3 price readings. Buy if today's price is within 2% of the lowest price we've logged and either Amazon shows it 10%+ below its typical/list price or it's 5%+ under the highest price we've logged. Wait if it's 5% or more above our tracked low. Anything else is Fair price (not a deal, not overpriced vs our log).
“Lowest we've seen” means the lowest price in our log, which started Oct 11, 2026. It is not an all-time low.
Price-drop alerts
Tap “Notify me when it drops” on any card. We save your email and the product so we can email you when our hourly check sees a lower price.
What we don't do
- We don't invent prices, discounts, quotes or reviews.
- We don't show dollar prices; tap through for Amazon's current price.
- We earn a commission on qualifying purchases (disclosure).
